Might still be a bit until we can all fly without Covid risk, but we have some good topics tomorrow to keep our 'heads in the clouds'! --- IMC QotM: When receiving any clearance from the Air Traffic Control (ATC) IFR or VFR, what part do you have to read back? What part should you read back? Does any regulation govern it? Scenario: Youre off to retrieve your son from college in an airplane that got washed by the line crew before getting washed by the clouds. Now youre deep in the soup with an uncertain altitude and a list of poor options to get back on the ground. How will you choose? IMC QotM: On the clip of the Low Altitude chart given in the March Question of the Month (attached), the T298 (RNAV route) coincides with V208. The MEA of T298 is 11700, but V208 is 11300. Typically, T-routes have lower MEA's than nearby Victor airways since they rely on the GPS signal to navigate. Why would a T-route have a higher MEA than a Victor airway that follows the same route? Scenario: You have somewhere to be, and one lousy antenna just broke on your airplane. Whats even more annoying is that you never use that system anyway. Is it reasonable to make this flight IFR? What about a shorter IFR or VFR flight to fix the problem? Or, is there perhaps another solution?
