Hope everyone managed to enjoy the holidays, .. we even got some flying on
on the 26th - beautiful day for a tour around St. Louis.

We have a QotM for tomorrow:

On the IFR Enroute Low Altitude chart in the Las Vegas area, look just to
the west of the fix, OASYS.  There you'll see GOODSPRINGS data block with
the frequency, 112.05, and a hollow square box.  This icon is about 20 NM
DME on the 220-degree radial from the LAS VOR, i.e., it's located at the
South West Corner of the Las Vegas Class B airspace.  This hollow square
box has no VOR compass rose.  This hollow square box also appears on the
Sectional Chart.  What is it?  And, what is it used for?

IFR Scenario for January

You've got a capable airplane and an important mission, but one small
problem will make this landing a challenging one. If you can just get on
the ground, you can get the problem fixed and everyone on their way. But
how will you do that when you cant see straight ahead?
