For an IFR flight terminating at 1A5, if you were not able to reach
Atlanta Center via radio on the ground to cancel your flight plan, is it
necessary to cancel at all? What other option(s) would be available to
cancel?

Scenario

Actual IMC experience is essential to confidence in the clouds. Thats why
any instrument instructor worth the ticket will do what they can to get
actual IMC experience for their students. But when that experience
includes an icing emergency, whats the safest way to prevent an
instructional flight from turning into a tragedy?
