Scenario ======== The best thing about personal minimums is that they remove subjectivity. This removes the temptation to just take a look or try it once more. But what happens when that absolute is challenged by something you never expectedand maybe shouldnt even count? Is that a valid reason to make an exception? 6 August 2024 1H0 Pilot Lounge 1830 CDT From members at stlaviationmeetup.org Tue Aug 6 18:28:47 2024 From: members at stlaviationmeetup.org (St. Louis Aviation Meetup Members List) Date: Tue, 6 Aug 2024 13:28:47 -0500 (CDT) Subject: [Members] [EA17131787] A Pilots Guide to NASA Aviation Safety Reporting System - FAASafety.gov (fwd) Message-ID: ---------- Forwarded message ---------- Date: 6 Aug 2024 12:44:11 -0500 From: FAASafety.gov To: lvl at omnitec.net Subject: [EA17131787] A Pilots Guide to NASA Aviation Safety Reporting System - FAASafety.gov -- FAASafety.gov -------------------------------------------------------- You have asked us to notify you when a webinar is scheduled that meets your criteria. What pilots can do beyond the training they get in the ACS to better prepare to include: - Stall Exercises - Coordination Rolls - Landings - Personal minimums - Float plain flying and what Deon learned when he got to Alaska that no one ever told him in the lower 48 To view further details and registration information for this webinar, click here: http://www.faasafety.gov/SPANS/event_details.aspx?eid=131795 The sponsor for this seminar is: FAASTeam The following credit(s) are available for the WINGS/AMT Programs: Basic Knowledge 1 - ½ CreditBasic Knowledge 1 - 1 Credit Click here to view the WINGS help page: https://www.FAASafety.gov/OnlineHelp/Default.aspx?page=/WINGS/pub/default.aspx From members at stlaviationmeetup.org Mon Aug 19 17:28:30 2024 From: members at stlaviationmeetup.org (St. Louis Aviation Meetup Members List) Date: Mon, 19 Aug 2024 12:28:30 -0500 (CDT) Subject: [Members] 20 August 2024 Message-ID: QotM ==== When approaching to land on an upsloping runway, what common error or illusion might a pilot experience? For example, if an aircraft with a maximum gross weight of 2,000 pounds stalls at 50 knots, how much would stall speed change (and in what direction) if it were at an actual weight of 1,800 pounds? Scenario ======== Every instrument pilot ends up here sooner or later: You thought there was time to slow down before the go downand it didnt work out. Now youre behind the eight-ball and above the V-speeds to get stuff out and slow down.
